<<So the smallpox vaccine is contraindicated while
breastfeeding? GOOD!  I have a valid reason to refuse
to take it.  So what if the nursling is FOUR?!>>

The vaccine is contraindicated now for individuals at risk because there is
no current outbreak of smallpox. However, the only individuals that are
being vaccinated are those considered to be at risk for exposure in case of
deliberate outbreak - the military and certain health workers. It is those
breastfeeding military personnel and health care workers that are being
advised not to receive the vaccine.

If there is indeed an outbreak of smallpox in an area, there will be
absolutely no contraindications, including pregnant and breastfeeding
mothers, and babies and children.
