>>Fellow lactneters,I have several mothers that have history of low
thyroid levels. When they have their thyroid level tested it is
normal-low range. They struggle with milk supply. Is there a range
that is optimal for breastfeeding that is more presise than
non-lactating? <<
Connor,
I have noticed the same thing. Because they are still in the "normal"
range, the HCPs do not believe that there is a connection to low milk
supply. In my insufficient milk study, there were 3 or 4 women who
reported that "borderline low" level. I have started to wonder if the
range for "normal" should be higher for lactating women. This is one of
those things that I doubt anyone has ever looked at-- and it probably
needs to be looked at.
