I think the milk supply should be over-calibrated for moms of premies,
but not to an extreme! When moms who are pumping a quart a day start
putting the baby to the breast, we can help them to use one breast 2
feedings in a row, or whatever else will help reduce the supply and get
fattier milk for the baby. It usually is easier to decrease supply than
increase it, but mothers should be counselled that they don't need 60
ounces a day, unless they have quadruplets!
