Lyla,
You asked "Why
oh why do the moms with non baby-related milk supply problems so often also
have babies who struggle to nurse for anatomical reasons!? "
I think it is because lactation is a robust process. It mainly breaks
down when there are several "hits". A mom with reduced glandular tissue
with a strong infant with a vigorous suck *might* get enough stimulation
to build more alveoli and have an adequate supply, whereas the same mom
with a tongue tied baby will be in trouble. The clients I see usually
have more than one issue, often 2 or 3 different concerns that conspired
to cause their bf difficulty.
