This is why I hang on so fervently to the ability to visit, if only
briefly, every breastfeeding mom in the hospital. By doing so, I
feel they are more likely to call us with any later concerns. Even
if the LC who takes their call isn't the one that saw them in the
hospital, they feel they have a personal "connection" and feel more
free to call. It also gives me the opportunity to clear up any
conflicting information. My reward is getting to see those moms who
have become completely enamoured of their infants, are totally
dedicated to breastfeeding and, yes, really don't need our help.
Touching base with these moms helps me keep focus on breastfeeding
as normal, not fraught with problems! Some days I feel it is my
only link to sanity!
