"It seems they are taking all feeds at breast or maybe some that are hand
expressed and cup fed."
We encourage Kangaroo care at the earliest possible opportunity - long before
the premies are ready to take any oral feedings. It is an important first
step. Second step is "dry breastfeeding" (empty-breast nursing), then
breastfeeding after partial pumping, then full breastfeeding. We would love
our Moms (and Dads) to stay around all day and night to K-care and
breastfeed, but they don't.
