Jennifer asks if there is a subset of babies who do fine with tongue-tie. I
have one daughter with a partial tongue-tie and several neices and nephews
with the condition (it runs in our family). There is a photo of one of
these nephews in The Breastfeeding Atlas (he is the 12 yr old who can't
stick out his tongue.) He never had any breastfeeding problems and has no
speech problems, however he has a very open bite and needs braces. I wonder
if the orthodontia will hold due to the abnormal tongue patterning.
