The older (gestation and post-natal age) and more stable the infant, the
better the infant's own immune system, and the less concerned we are with
"sterility". Our growing premies and those > 28-30 weeks seem better able to
deal with the occasional dose of pathogens. Human milk is not sterile
(unless you pasteurize it) - nor should it be. We WANT babies colonized with
Mom's good bugs.
