It is live vaccine, "vaccinia".. The puss that develops is contagious, so
there will be protocol with dressings.... There is talk of tegaderm in our
public health department. As long as there is proper wound care, and
protective layers of clothing, and universal precautions, our public health
dept. home visiting of mothers and babies shouldn't be affected for those
who are eligible to receive the vaccine. This is the latest we were told
(yesterday). Special precautions needed until the scab heals and falls off
(7-10days).
