Cindy, thank you for sending the fenugreek information. I have had several
mothers who have been told by LCs that they shouldn't use fenugreek because
it "interferes with insulin absorpion."

Most diabetic mothers who are feeding their babies (and perhaps those who
aren't) must monitor their blood sugars closely for a few weeks after
birth. So using fenugreek for their milk supply will just be a part of the
regulating of their insulin intake.

The diabetic mothers whom I work with are used to monitoring and regulating
their treatments on a regular basis and are not alarmed by any
fluctuations. When I explain fenugreek's blood sugar regulating properties
they are keenly interested and do not reject its use.

They also don't check with their doctors about using fenugreek because long
ago they took control of their blood sugar regulating, testing their sugars
several times a day when their is a change in metabolism of any kind. I
think that those of us who are not diabetic are more frightened by the
whole sugar/insulin issue than are women who have been "reading" their
bodies for many years.
