Subject: Re: nursing in public

However, it came naturally to me to feed my son whenever he was hungry,
be
it in my home, in a restaurant, in a store....wherever. I was not about
to
go into a restroom stall to feed him as I'd heard some nursing moms do!
Bottle fed babies don't eat in restroom stalls and neither would my baby!
I've actually never received a negative comment from anyone. Gotten a lot
of smiles, but never anything negative. (Except from my mother in law!)

I have found that there are two things that help a mom feel comfortable
nursing in public: self-confidence and a plan. I think that by arming a
mom with a few pre-thought-out one liners, we can help a mom feel like
she can confidently counter anyone who confronts her. Something like
what you said above Jenny is the perfect thing to be prepared to say.
Also, I think that moms who have a "go ahead and tell me something"
attitude are far less likely to be confronted than those who are
sheepishly nursing in public. So helping a mom gain the self-confidence
to bf in public can go a long way to preventing the confrontation in the
first place.
