I have been seeing more and more of these kinds of items. There is one now
in stores - it looks like a stuffed animal, a bunny or what have you, but
where the animals nose and mouth would be is a hole that the bottle nipple
sticks through. In other words, you encase the bottle in this stuffed animal
and it holds it off the child's chest and I suppose acts as a soothing
cuddle as well. Ten years ago I never saw (or never noticed?) anything like
this, but now there are several styles. There is another that is a tube
attached to a pacifier (reviewed a couple years ago here on LN) so the child
can also drink hands free. Who knows how many more. It seems that the more
we promote breastfeeding, the more of these products turn up. Of course
people have been folding a blanket under propped bottles for years. This
makes bottle-feeding as unlike breastfeeding as it could possibly be! What
do these items say about what is happening to child care?
