A couple of thoughts:

When training women who want to become volunteer LLL Leaders, it usually takes a two hour session to cover about one hour of material. This is in someone's home with the children playing nearby. Most of the time, we say don't take notes, just listen and meet the needs of your child. There is related reading done on their own.

Some ideas from WIC offices (Women, Infant, Children Program of food supplements and nutrition education) for training the Breastfeeding Peer Counselors:
--One organization says no babies over six months old at work, or during training. Training is about 20 hours, divided up into 5 -- five hour sessions with a one hour lunch break at the main office building in conference rooms. Sessions are usually M, W, F. These are women already screened and hired onto the program (if they complete training) and paid for training. Homework, meaning reading and answering questions is part of the training.
--Another one does three full days, last day short, M-TH. Babies and toddlers play in the room with mom at a church, no one is hired on yet, no one is paid for this training. Those who make it through are considered for open job positions. Homework also is part of the training.

Always have more women signed up to attend then you need. Someone will drop out.

Having done LLL Meetings for years, some evening, some morning, I have found that the kids are better behaved in the mornings, than in the evenings. For a three or four month period last year, all the babies started fussing at 7:30 PM for at least a half hour! We just talked around them, while moms walked, nursed, cuddled and giggled them to sleep.
