Dear Friends:
Bravo, Rachel Myr for a post that draws a powerful analogy that I have
often used with new mothers. Sometimes it can be used to make someone laugh
("Remember the first time you made love? Was it wonderful?" "Omigod, NO....it
was awful") Right, but you tried it again, didn't you?[Unable to display image]
Another part of this analogy is useful to combat the idea that the
mother must use lots of different positions when she is nursing. New moms
tell me all the different positions they used with such pride. Why bother? As
with lovemaking, most of the time, one or two positions are just fine. As
long as it doesn't hurt, and the baby is getting milk, be happy with the day
position and the night position (usually sidelying). Get one or two positions
very easy and comfortable, no need to struggle with more.
Warmly,
