My son had his tonsils removed at age 10, should have been done earlier
but that's another story. I was instructed that it was CRITICAL he drink
lots of fluids and remain hydrated, or he would need to come to the ER
for an IV. His throat was very sore and drinking was not fun for him, I
was concerned until I saw his light yellow urine. It was July and tiny
pieces of watermelon felt best for him on his throat and tummy.
My point: It seems to me most reasonable HCPs would want the
toddler hydrated any way possible. Yes, even BREASTFEEDING.
