I sent this but did not see it come through. Hopefully some of you experts can help me out here.
Thanks,

A client of mine went to the ER this morning when her b/p shot WAY up. They
gave her Klonopin (Clonazapam). She is normally on siezure meds and has a
problem with her heart also. She had a problem with her c-section incision
and now her and baby has thrush. This poor girl is trying to breastfeed
through all of this even though she didn't b/f her other 3 children. Every
time they suggest a med she makes sure she can b/f with it. But since
apperantly she needed THIS medication and no other would work according to
the er doc she is having to pump and dump. She called me this morning and
asked how long she would have to do this (the dr. just told her not to b/f).
I looked it up in Dr. Hales and it says, Lactation Risk L3 (ok, I know that
means no b/f while on it), T 1/2 18-50 hours (this means not to b/f for this
amount of time right?) So how can we tell how long since it is such a wide
varience? She didn't know what mg. it was just said it was one small pill,
one time. I found online some pictures that shows the mg. by color of pill
but could not get ahold of her again to ask what color of pill it was. She
is not confident with pumping at all and is really scared of loosing supply.
I told her to call me back tomorrow and I would try to have some answers for
her. I figured at least that way she is looking at it on a one day at a
time basis.
Thanks for any help,

Georganne
