Dr. Jay or Gonneke,

Let me be clear then in what I am referring to. Sleeping through the
night is definitely NOT the goal. However, sleeping AT ALL is! Human
beings do not naturally sleep flat on their backs, spead eagle on a hard
cold mattress.... not even adults. Can one of you, or someone else, make
a practical recommendation for moms of multiples? These moms want to do
a good job but they do need a break once in a while... even for an hour
at a time.

BTW, I think that extreme reactions on the part of us healthcare
providers are the root of the problem. No one on this list (that I can
see) is suggesting putting babies alone in a dark room, tightly swaddled
on their bellies all night. But... how about a little light swaddling
during day hours so mom can eat a little lunch, take a shower, or nap on
the couch for an hour at a time?

Susan
