Dear Martha,
A quick response to part of your post (dinner awaits):
1. Baby obviously has a lousy latch/suck which is leading to the long, inefficient feeds; baby may be getting milk mainly through the MER; eventually, though, the milk supply will begin to dwindle and weight gains will taper off if the latch and suck are not improved; work with positioning (I would not use the cradle hold for a baby with latch problems - at least start with cross-cradle or try football instead), deep asymetrical latch, maybe some suck training; have you checked for tongue-tie? continue with craniosacral.
2. You say that the mastitis was treated successfully, yet mom still has shooting pains (which are just as often seen with bacterial infections as with yeast); I'm thinking she needs a round of antibiotics.
3. ??? Have to go eat. Need to think about this one.
Warmly,
