I am currently assisting a mom who had her baby 10/9/02. Mom is currently
pumping due to some latch issues but is working daily at getting her baby to
the breast.
Looking for some good articles/journal papers for her to give to her
pediatrician who made the following statement at her babies 2 week check up.
The pediatrician advised that because she is bottle feeding breastmilk, she
should be feeding her son every 2 to 3 hours during the day, and every 3 to
4 at night. (baby is 3 weeks old) She questioned this statement because she
had been told that babies digest breastmilk faster than formula, which is
why they feed more often. The pediatrician said that babies digest milk
fast when they breast feed, but that expressed breast milk is the same as
formula. (ack! appauling statement!!)
