Hi everyone.  I usually lurk around and read e-mails here and there, but
today I would like to send some mail.

My name is Heidi Agostinho and I live in Miami, Florida.  I am the
Breastfeeding Program Administrator for WIC.  You probably have all heard of
my side kick Regina Roig-Lane.  I wanted to tell you what happened to me the
other day as a breastfeeding mother of a 2 year old.

I went to BJ's Wholesale club to have some pictures developed.  I had the
film laying around for a while.  When I went to pick up the film the clerk
said I need to talk to you about your pictures.  I thought she was going to
give me tips for lighting or something.  To my surprise she told me that
there were some pictures of my breast in her mouth, as she pointed to my
daughter.  I was taken by surprise and said, oh, I didn't know what was on
the film.  She went on and as she did I realized what was happening.  She
told me that she is letting me go this time, but she could call the
authorities for the contents of my picture, this time was only a warning.  My
jaw dropped to the floor because I couldn't believe what I was hearing.  I
immediately told her that that breastfeeding is not a sexual act and she
continued to stick her feet in her mouth by comparing the pictures to sexual
nudity and lude and lascivious acts.  The clerk didn't understand why I was
making a big deal out of her warning and I explained it is a big deal.  I
contacted the manager who was equally misinformed.

The reason I am writing is to let everyone know that I this is another avenue
in which mothers can be discouraged to breastfeed.  If I had been a new
mother I would have been frightened by the threat of being criminally
prosecuted.  I have written a letter to the regional manager, and Corporate
Vice President of operations at BJ's.  Any other advice would be welcome.
