I'm following the thread on biting with interest. I've just finished another
bf course (given a course to mothers-to-be) and am supprised how often the
topic of biting comes up. It seems, at least here, that women think and
deeply believe that a baby with teeth is something to be weary about.
People always ask - "but don't they bite?". This perception seems so
ingrained that I'm thinking about covering it more seriously in my courses.
I don't think this following thread or bit of info has been covered before,
but in Diana West's book she mentions that women bf after breastreduction
can be at a higher risks from nipple-biting infants due to reduced sensation
in the nipple-areola complex. Worth bearing in mind when helping such a
mother.
Just my 50 euro cents worth.
