I feel very fortunate to be a part of lactnet, even if I am a lurker. I
feel I have learned so much about so many topics, and I look forward to
putting faces with names in the future.
I have been trying to start what I call the "Nursing Mothers Group" for
pregnant and breastfeeding moms in the small town I live in, but it is
getting harder and harder to sit and wait for nobody to show up. I am ever-
reminded of the market's pressure on a public's "education".
When I read about the people I look up to having hard days and battles, it
just makes me think about what I may be getting myself into...and I
say, "Bring it on!" Because as long as I know I am not alone, I know that
there is value in my fight.
I have a real interest in social anthropology, and I wanted to share
Margaret Mead's quote that ties it all together for me...
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can
change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."
Margaret Mead
Keep changing the world!
