This may be true, but the states have no power to reprimand or deny
certification in these case to the best of my knowledge. (Any attorneys out
there care to comment on this issue?) While an IBCLC could potentially lose
their certification because of problems, it would not in effect prevent them
from continuing to practice as an LC in most places. Licensing boards have a
measure of control over practicing groups that credentialing agencies do
not - that's the difference. Hope that helps to clarify.
