SURELY this is a _joke_! You can go _no where_ in Italy to _any_ church,=
museum, etc. without seeing a Madonna and Child breastfeeding. I was so
frustrated in Florence - lots of paintings and statues - but NO slides or=
postcards with the_literally hundreds_ of Madonna and baby Jesus
breastfeeding pictures. >>
My take on this is that it was not the depiction of Mary breastfeeding Jesus
that was disdainful to the spokesperson for the Church - it was the way that
something that some might see as a sacred image (Mary and Jesus
breastfeeding) was being used to "pitch" PETA's position on vegetarianism and
avoidance of milk products.
I have mixed feelings about this myself.
