I think I've been off lactnet all summer. It's great to be back... and it
sounds as if there's yet another brouhaha in full swing. Ah, what a lively
group we are!
An adopting mother wanted me to pass this along. She's begun pumping with a
lactina, and found she was getting sore after a week of use. She wanted
lower suction than it offered, at least for now, and came up with this
solution:
>There is a small white ring that you turn in order to choose among "upper
>tube", "both tubes" (for double pumping) and "lower tube". Set this ring
>BETWEEN "upper tube" and "both tubes", and unplug the lower tube. It's not
>hard to do. I recommend putting the shield on your belly while fiddling to
>find the right setting.
>
>What this does is to create an air leak. Then the suction is not as
>strong. You can still use the regular suction control ring, although there
>will not be a huge difference between "min" and "max".
This is a woman who isn't producing milk, who's just in the early stages of
preparing for an adoption. *For that specialized use*, I think she has a
good idea.
