Hello all,
I am learning so much about the iron issue and have a personal question that
seems would fit in to this discussion. My 13 mo old daughter, 22 lbs,
healthy and happy, eats VERY LITTLE besides breastmilk. I continue to offer
family foods but she is not interested. Nor does she want "baby" cereals or
other "baby foods." I always remember that children that do not eat solids
well often have allergies and seem to know best when/what to eat. She has
not had a hgb check and my question is this: should one automatically be
done on a child such as this (almost exclusively bf but thriving) or should
it be done only if symptoms are present? And then, what are the symptoms to
look for?
Thanks,
Laurie Wheeler, rnc, mn, ibclc
