Lactnetters,
I have been wondering for quite a while about the stated average age of
weaning worldwide - 4+ years.
While I believe there are many children nursing to this age, it seems there
are many more nursing for only a short time. So I wonder how this figure was
arrived at. If worldwide we are trying to promote Bf, and if initiation and
duration are declining, and if moms are only nursing in early infancy, there
must be a BUNCH of kids somewhere nursing very long-term for it to pull the
average up to 4+.
I bet Dr. Dettwyler can comment on this one. I always enjoy your posts
Kathy.
