Hi to everyone from Finland, the promised land of probiotics.
I could'nt find out who is sponsoring the Salminen, Isolauri et.al.
research in Turku University. But it looks like a big Finnish milk and
formula manufacturer Valio is one of their sponsors, as they've used
Gefilus probiotics manufactured by Valio in their research. Of course
there is a big industry behind the probiotics research and the aim of
the research is to develop new "functional foods" to be sold. I just
found an old newspaper story that the research group was awarded by a
big Swiss milk producers' organisation as well. And that's not
breastmilk producers I'm afraid ;).
