I am sorry - but I have to make a comment here. As a CLE and IBCLC I have
one big question: Since when does a CLE 'rule' over an IBCLC??? Maybe that
is just hospital politics (the main reason I stay exclusively in private
practice...). But, as a CLE I was taught that we are to be teaching and
educating mothers not HIDING information that could help a mother. Where
does informed decision/consent come in here?? As an LC we are bound by our
ethics and committment to moms to give the support and information they
need. Something ain't right here...
I agree with Laurie - ethics committee is a good place to go with this one,
or even over the CLE's head (for inappropriate treatment of a patient) if
you can't gently educate her about informed consent, and appropriate
compassion for a grief stricken mother desperate to provide milk for her
baby, looking for answers and being denied at every turn. Horrid...
If I were the mom I'd be filing a major compliant...as soon as I was able
to.
Jaye
irritated in Sac...yeah - this touched a nerve with me.
