yes we do have something like JCAHO
It's called  the Australian Hospitals' Accreditation Commission (think
that's the correct name). We have to under go review by them if  the
hospital wants to let the public know that they are an Accredited hospital.

Yes, suing hospital etc is now becoming a way of life in Australia and we
also are now having to ensure that everything we do mets a certain
requirement/competency/standard .
