Hello everyone - I wanted to post to you all to let you know how things are
going, and to thank so many of you for your kind cards, emails and other
messsages of caring that came from your hearts.

My surgery went very well, and while I still have a few more hills to climb
in resolving this difficult situation, I am doing AOK and feeling better
every day. I've been home since the end of last week, and each day brings
more strength and me back to feeling like 'me' again. They were able to
successfully resect my colon, and 1/2 of my liver as well, and I will begin
chemo directly into my liver in a few weeks, and then general chemo. I have
decided that I do not even want to know the side effects of chemo, as I know
how active my imagination is - what I don't know will help me!

I wanted to share with you all a few more thoughts on my situation and why
early detection of this '2nd leading cause of death by cancer' that I have.
I recently learned that I did have a 'risk factor' that I did not know
about. From what I understand, if one has a history of polyps may have a
three fold risk of colon cancer later on in life. In my late 20's, I had
polyps removed from my uterus. I hope that any of you who may also have had
polyps in the past will carefully look at your situation, and don't wait
until you are at the big 50 mark to get scoped.

I also wanted to share with you all some of my thoughts about 'beating' this
illness. Funny, how my initial approach was to act as I always do - be as
thorough as I can, learn all I can, and try everything to 'get better fast'.
I have realized that healing comes from a place of calm, and that I was
ready to go on the fast track with this as I have with so many things in my
life. I guess I have to say to all of you 'high speed givers' out there that
slowing down is probably the best way to be not just happy, but healthy.

Again, thank all of you for your love and concern.

Liz Baldwin
