We can't get a Symphony pymp at this time and our patients don't ask for them but for years I have been taking the parts off the Lactina and hand pumping for them by pulling the handle rapidly while they hold the two flanges to their chest. I recommend this type of hand pumping when they cannot afford rental and must hand pump and the mother is required to pump every 2 hours to get the milk for her baby in intensive care or surgery. I know it's only short term and daddy or I can help out. I learned that the short strokes can cause another milk ejection reflex When I saw the Symphony pump I had that 'ah ha' moment thinking that someone engineered (quite expensively) something I had been doing for years. Hand pumping this way is a great tool to help a mo
m who was infrequently pumping and has herself engorged. It's application works for sore nipples and she is afraid she will see blood when she pumps.
