At this URL you can read a WHO document on postpartum care.

s.en.html
At the end is a categorization of practices according to whether they are
useful, harmful, or of uncertain value. Included on the list of "Practices
which are clearly harmful or ineffective and should be eliminated" are the
following:
Giving free formula samples, bottles and teats to breastfeeding women
and
Prescription of hormonal contraceptives during the first 6 weeks postpartum
to breastfeeding mothers
Seems to me both these things have come up in the last week or so
(Depo-Provera and Lipil)
References are included in the document.
