I have nursed both my sons in the sling. The "Over the Shoulder Baby
Holder" brand is the kind I use and like. IMO it is the best of its
kind (the type with padded rails and shoulder area). I find it
easiest to nurse on the side opposite the shoulder with the rings by
loosening the sling, easing baby into a horizontal position, and
leaning forward (to move baby away from my body just a little) while
I lift up my shirt and get baby latched on. Then I stand up straight
and carry on about my business. This position works for my 8 mo now
as well as it did when he was a newborn. I recommend learning to
wear the sling on either shoulder from the beginning so that you can
nurse on both sides.

My husband is a big fan of the sling as well. We have other fancier
(ie more $$) baby carriers but they gather dust while the sling is in
use hourly.

I have no financial interest in these slings.
