Hi All,
Henci Goer, author of "Obstetric Myths Versus Research Realities" has a
newer (3 years?)book for the general public, "The Thinking Woman's Guide to
Pregnancy and Childbirth". She is very clear on the risks of induction and
gives great references to back up her stance that it is risky for mom, risky
for baby and that the risk:benefit ratio had better be quite significant in
order to justify induction. I believe that all pregnant women NEED to read
this book early in pregnancy.
To make this "on topic", inductions and all of the inevitable interventions
that come with them are a huge factor in disrupting early establishment of
breastfeeding.
