Richard Pennycuick mentions a CD of music by the late Murray
Adaskin, whose obituary I wrote for The Independent (you'll find it at
http://www.independent.co.uk/story.jsp?story=308355).  Richard (and others)
might be interested in the contents of the five volumes (to date) of "The
Adaskin Collection":

Vol. 1 (MM101): String Quartets 1 and 2

Vol. 2 (MM102): Vocalise No. 2, for cello; Piano Sonata; Sonatine
Baroque for solo violin; Rondalee, Eskimo Melodies, Etude No. 1 and
Gretchen for piano; Vocalise No. 1, for clarinet

Vol. 3 (MM103): Octet for strings; Violin Sonata No. 2; Divertimento No.
7; Vocalise No. 1, for violin; String Quintet

Vol. 4 (MM 104 - I guess: it doesn't say so on the CD): Cello Sonata;
Nocturne for clarinet and piano; Violin Sonata No. 1; Daydream for Eb alto
sax and piano

Vol. 5 (MM 105): Woodwind Quintets Nos. 1 and 2; Musica Victoria for
piano quartet and bass (his last work - 2000); Sonatine Baroque for solo
violin (different performance from Vol. 1).

These CDs were put together by Murray Adaskin and his wife, Dorothea
Larsen, who intends to continue the series, at least with a Vol. 6.

There's also a double album from the Canadian Music Centre, the first CD
consisting of a charming and fascinating interview with Murray Adaskin,
and the second containing a number of orchestral works: Diversion,
Bassoon Concerto; Suite; In Praise of "Canadian Painting in the Thirties";
Divertimento No. 6 for percussion and orchestra.

The CDs can be obtained via the Canadian Music Centre,
http://www.musiccentre.ca/ or [log in to unmask]

Cheers
