I spoke to the Mother yesterday about using water to flush out system.
Apparently this Dr. says she needs water because baby might be dehydrated due
to drug and methadone exposure, and to flush out the medication. I said I
disagreed and that we'd talked to several experts who felt it was fine, but
she's adamant that this is the best methodone Dr. in the country. Her
methadone (mother's) intake is only 2 mg daily, and she is giving baby 2 oz.
of water a day. So it's coming down, and she is not offended by my advice,
but isn't going to take it until her doctor says she can stop water. Baby is
a little constipated, which I explained can be normal, but she feels the
water is helping with that too.
