Several people have written that they are looking for travel partners from
the Airport to the hotel at ILCA. Last time ILCA was in Boca Raton, I
accidentally ended up with a very interesting, inexpensive ride to the
hotel. This time, I intend to do it on purpose and anyone who would like to
can join in.
It turns out that the area has a very nice bus system. (They have a train
too but I can't seem to figure out that schedule!) The bus ride takes about
21/2 hours with another 15 minutes between busses in the central terminal.
You also get a nice 1/4 mile (1/2 km) walk at the end between the bus stop
and the hotel. The total cost is $2. The people on the bus were quite nice
and the only problem that I had last time was hauling my HEAVY suitcase back
to the airport with me.
To get from the Ft. Lauderdale Airport to the Hotel, catch the #1 bus north
to the terminal, on the weekdays it runs every 15 minutes. At the central
terminal, catch the #10 bus north, it runs every 30 minutes. Take the#10
almost to the end of the route and get off at Camino Real, walk east (no
need to cross the big street) and the hotel will be right beside you.
The Miami airport has bus service too but I did not look up the number of
the bus. Just find the one that goes to the central terminal and figure on
about 15 - 20 minutes longer.
Looking forward to seeing you all in a few days.
Perpetually the tightwad,
Linda Pohl, IBCLC
