Regarding the comment: "children who take formula turn out just as
healthy and
just as smart and I think it is unfair to passively throw out biased
negative comments"
What would be the response if one said, "My children don't ride in car
seats. They are perfectly healthy and have never been injured. In
fact, they are much happier on rides because they aren't tied down to
the seat. I grew up without using a car seat and I'm just fine!"
You could even say that the vast majority of children who ride without
car seats don't get hurt. Some who do ride in them get hurt or even
killed, so you can't say they guarantee saftey.
Risks are risks. Just because one can "dodge the bullet" most of the
time doesn't mean that the risks shouldn't be stated or that ignoring
the risks should be acceptable. Noone is accused of making parents feel
guilty for not using car seats. In fact health professionals are
praised for pointing out the risks and are required to do so! Sigh.
