Hello, I've been lurking out here for some weeks. Am just plucking up the courage to join in. My name is Hilary Myers, a midwife since 1974 and LC since 2000 working in a midwifery-led unit in Somerset/Wiltshire England. I edit a breastfeeding newsletter for my NHS trust and have just taken over the editorship of Lactation Consultants of Great Britain newsletter. Language has always fascinated me and my question is this..
What is the difference between breast feeding, breast-feeding and breastfeeding? Do they mean the same thing? or are there subtle differences? Some colleagues have said it doesn't matter and suggested that I am being pedantic. Does it really matter? I suspect it does but am not sure I can explain why I think so.
I wait with bated breath!
Hilary
