Hi I have a question. Are any of you out there at hospitals that are
regularly allowing women on methadone ( for ex-heroin addiction) to
breastfeed?
I am aware of AAP recommendation re only doses under 20 mg, and of various
studies that relate the low dosage that really gets into the milk. However I
am interested to know if any of your institutions are actually
allowing/educating/encouraging women on methadone to breastfeed, and if you
are, what kind of policies or 'consent' forms you use (if any).
ALso if there are lactnutters out there from other countries who know what
your 'regulations' or recommendations are, I would be interested to hear.
Thanks
