first i wanted to thank you all for the advise, it was very reasuring to
hear you suggest the things i was trying. mom and baby spent all day skin to
skin (dad even held hin shirtless while she went to pee) then slept with him
on her bare chest, and awoke to find him latched on at 4 am. wow. he has
lached 4 times the following day, all the rest of the feeds were ebm
fingerfed. i really feel he puts his tongue up in defence right before he
shuts down. she thinks he is just sleepy, but i have watched him and its
like someone flips a swich and he locks his tongue to the roof of his mouth,
shuts his eyes and wont be wakened. the more anyone fusses with him the
worse he gets. sooo i told her to nurse when he is awake, in a calm, quiet,
gentle way with minimal stimulation, fingerfeed the rest of the feeds(
initially he went from6lbs down to 4.2lbs!!!! now at 6 weeks he is up to
7.2lbs.) and keep him on her skin.
katieLLLL (someday i hope to be an L.C. i have 5700 hours so far but am
affraid to take the test)
