One of the problems with discussing ANY religion, is that the people who
call themselves followers of "X" religion do not all believe or practice the
same thing. This is true whatever the specific religion is. And people get
in a dither when someone describes what others believe and do as a follower
of Religion X, and say "That's not what TRUE FOLLOWERS of Religion X believe
and do." And many followers of a specific religion don't even KNOW the
details about what they are supposed to believe and do (the dogma of their
own religion is mostly unknown to them).

People justify many things by using their religious beliefs, or their
religious writings, or their interpretations of religious writings, etc. It
simply isn't possible to label one way of believing and doing things as the
'right' way for members of one religion, let alone talk about one religion's
way of doing things as better than another religion's way of doing things.

The Ezzos justify their schedules and their approach to child-rearing by
claiming it has Christian/Biblical justification, and many of their
followers believe them. We do need to understand the religious and
spiritual implications of a religion-based, but physiologically impractical,
childrearing approach. However, it is not an appropriate or useful use of
the wonderful resource that is LactNet to argue about what is or is not
"Christian" or "Jewish" or "Muslim" or "whatever."

Climbing down off the soap box now.
