Dear Lactneters:

OTHER LACTATION AND PEDIATRIC PROFESSIONALS AT WWW.PEDSCHAT.ORG
THIS WEEK'S TOPIC IS:
"Applying the AAP and AAFP guidelines to clinical practice" With speaker
Christine Betzold NP IBCLC MSN
As an RN Christine spent three years at Vandenberg AFB working in OB,
Medical/Surgical, and ICU. Once honorably discharged, she attended the number
one ranking school, University of California, San Francisco and received her
Master's degree with honors. Her nurse practitioner* certificate was obtained
from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. She
completed the lactation consultant (breastfeeding) program at University of
California, San Diego. She was certified by the International Board of
Lactation conslutants in 2001 and distinguished herself by receiving a score
of 94%.
The topic is applying the AAP and AAFP guidelines to clinical practice. I
have developed a program which consists of a series of handouts to be
distributed during each well baby visit. It incorporates safety info,
anticipatory guidance and developmental tasks along with breastfeeding info.
Furthermore I have revised a "Well infant care flow sheet which incorporates
pertinent breastfeeding info along with the usual care given at each well
child visit. The program can be accessed at:
