+AD4- I would like to ask if anyone has information about an IBCLC in Allentown
+AD4- Pennsylvania. The mother I have been working with here in Tokyo
+AD4- gave birth a
+AD4- month ago after developing peripartum cardiomyopathy, and was on life
+AD4- support for three days. Breastfeeding has been severely hampered
+AD4- by her own
+AD4- condition and treatment, but I feel with some expert guidance she may be
+AD4- able to have a satisfying nursing experience.
Iona,
I worked with a mother several years ago who developed this after birth. You might check the archives as we discussed it at that time. It was in December 1998. The mom I worked with tried to pump but found that the meds she was taking interfered with prolactin to such an extent that she was not getting any milk, even with a Classic pump. Baby was not permitted at the breast for a variety of reasons, meds being the main cause.
Mom and baby (now three) are doing very well. Mom continues to have cardiac +ACI-issues+ACI- that are well maintained with meds.
Kathy
IBCLC
