For us, they are considered nursing interventions and do not require a
doctor's order. Presently, they are given out by the LCs. We are there
every day except holidays. My concern about having them floor stock is
that some nurses will hand out the gels and consider the problem solved
rather than observing a latch. With the short stays, they are rarely
needed. It's the moms who've been home a few days and aren't getting an
effective latch that are needing them.
