I hope that collectively someone can lend some advise.
One of our techs has a 3 month old that has been exhibiting upper
respiratory symptoms since 6 weeks of age. She is nursing exclusively and
otherwise doing well with growth. Today she went to mom's allergist and had
skin testing done...she is positive for beef, chicken, pork, fish, shrimp,
potato's rice and apples. Not dairy. Mom has recently started her on rice
cereal. In a month they plan on furthertesting her for soy and environmental
allergens. Baby has begun tx with Zyrtec and is doing well. The Allergist
has suggested Mom watch her diet and if no improvement then consider weaning.
Of course this Mom really doesn't want to wean. I have suggested she
monitor her diet and portions. I have also called a resource to help find a
breastfeeding friendly nutritionist. What in the world do you do when these
foods encompass a major part of ones diet? This mom lives in the farwest
suburbs of Chicago (DeKalb) but, I am sure will travel to find some good
advice if necessary.
Thanks in advance
