I've done this myself. I was given an Avent pump by a lady I donated
milk to, and I already had one of my own, and I pumped on both sides
like that. However, I can't really compare to an electric double pump,
never having used one. Sometimes I could get 6 oz on one side and 4 on
the other...i.e when rather full. ;-)
I figured out a way to attach the Avent pump to a regular Playtex
disposable bag bottle, in order to pump into 8 oz bags without buying
the Avent larger bottle (those things are costly!). Otherwise,
sometimes (to begin with) I ended up having to empty my bottle 1/2 way
through which doesn't help when you're dripping all over, etc.
