Unfortunately in Canada there is only one milk bank, on the extreme western
end of the country -  Vancouver, BC (and it's a big country).  This leads to
transportation issues, although if  a mother is motivated enough I guess
they could work it out.  When a friend had a NICU baby in California who
died at 6 weeks, she had a freezer full of pumped milk but the hospital
wouldn't accept it because it hadn't been expressed using milk bank
protocol.

I do know that in the two instances of bereaved mothers with whom I have
worked, they would not have considered continuing pumping.  Ending producing
breastmilk was part of the grieving process, and accepting that their baby
had died.
