There are other, older antibiotics that I'm sure would work for the same
purpose the dr desires, avoiding or curing infection. It is the usual - use
the newest now. Ask Dr what he would use if Levoquin not available :-)
I looked in the AAP list and similar drug Ofloxacin is on "approved" list.
Hale (2000) says Levoquin should work the same way. I think it is unlikely
that the baby would get enough to be a problem. The children reported with
problems received high doses directly and have CF.- see Ofloxacin.
Don't forget to use the newest AAP list (Peds 108(3)
